In these tests, the aircraft are braked on an artificially wetted section of the runway. Both aircraft are equipped with advanced measuring equipment that records relevant parameters during the tests. The purpose of these flight tests is to analyze the influence of the so-called microstructure of the runway surface on the braking performance of wet runways and to develop a method to recognize smooth and wet runway surfaces.
The test flights are being conducted as part of an #EASA research project funded by the #EU Horizon Europe research and innovation program (https://www.easa.europa.eu/en/research-projects/runway-micro-texture-rwymt).
