Twente Airport takes electric Tow-Truck into service

Twente Airport is further shaping its sustainable airport ambitions. Last year, an electric tow-truck occasion was purchased at a competitive price that can move the most common types of aircraft emission-free. To prevent unnecessary emissions, larger aircraft at Twente Airport are moved to and from the head of the runway to the aprons and vice versa with this tow-truck before take-off or after landing. This reduces aircraft emissions that can impact nearby natural areas.

After a boat trip and complete overhaul and test period, the tow-truck was approved for use and painted in Twente Airport's colors. On Thursday morning, May 20, the truck was delivered in Enschede and officially put into operation. The airport expects to enjoy this new purchase for many years to come. The somewhat outdated existing diesel Tow-truck will remain in use but will only be used for towing the very largest heavy aircraft.

Jan Schuring, the acting director of Twente Airport is proud of the commissioning of the electric tow-truck: "The tow-truck is emission-free and contributes to minimizing the emission of CO2 and nitrogen emissions and thus to the further sustainability of our airport in Twente."

The tow-truck was delivered by Aviaco-GSE of Heemskerk.
