Aeronautical station operator. When Rob Rake (59) gets a business card soon, that should be his professional name. "First I have to do some internal training." His job at Twente Airport is to ensure that aircraft take off and land safely. It makes a difference that he already has the necessary flying hours. Literally and figuratively. As an entrepreneur, he stopped, so he tells himself, at the right moment.
A clear blue sky. The temperature is a few degrees below freezing, but that is irrelevant. "Beautiful weather for flying. Tomorrow we'll do ff another round, maybe go to the islands to eat a sandwich." A day later he sends a photo from Zeeland, near Arnemuiden. "And now on to Texel," he apps.
He can schedule his own time and he likes that. Telecount's success allows him to retire before he is 60. "But I'm not one to sit still or lie in bed until ten," he says. And so the call from Twente Airport's harbor master came at just the right time.
