Opening new aircraft stands

On Wednesday, July 7, the new aircraft stands (VOPs) were officially opened. Exactly one year ago, the first five VOPs were put into use and with these three new ones, a total of eight VOPs have been realized at Twente Airport. Last week the first new aircraft stand at the head of the runway has already been taken into use by the A340 of Air Mauritius and that has already produced a lot of nice pictures. This aircraft will remain here until it is dismantled by AELS.

In addition to temporarily parking aircraft from AELS, the VOPs are also suitable for parking aircraft from both airlines and leasing companies that are not currently in use. In addition to parking, maintenance companies perform light maintenance work on these aircraft on-site. This is important because otherwise the aircraft lose their airworthiness and thus their value. The parking areas thus contribute to the gradual development of the airport's garage function. Medium-sized aircraft are perfectly accommodated at the airport. A solution is being worked on for the very largest aircraft, so that they can land and take off. Twente Airport is currently working on a future plan for the airport and will not make any new major investments until a decision has been made.
