On Monday, March 9, 2020, visual (VFR) flight outside the daylight period (UDP) was flown for the first time at Twente Airport. Since January 1, 2020, the ban on flying on sight outside the daylight period in the Netherlands no longer applies. Any pilot, with the proper qualification, may now fly in darkness under VFR conditions. Twente Airport is the first uncontrolled airport (though with harbor service) where this has been allowed since the ban was lifted. The Twente Airport-based Vliegclub Twente was the first to be allowed to use this. Also business aviation can now use the airport outside the daylight period, for now only in good weather conditions (VFR conditions) and within the opening hours of the airport (PPR24H).
